to have my shower
to use the electrical elevator
to buy bread
my daughter can do her home work ,
i can watch television and loudly shout :
long live Mr. Bush and israel for this big blessing electricity , in Gaza
and i donot need to worry about 1.5 million population , who live under this cruel seige , wher ewe donot have cement to build our homes or our graves , wher emy patients die daily due to lack of proper treatment in Gaza and donot have accesability to furthur treatment abroad bcse of borders closure .
no need to worry about lack of diffrent sorts of medications inside our hospitals
no need to worry about increasing number of children , who suffer of malnutrition
due to lack of proper food , as an outcome of poverty
no need to worry about increasing number of women and children who suffer of postraumatic stress disorders,

no need to worry about my restriction of movement , and inability to travel , even to the west bank (last week one of my fiends in the WB ,passed away , and i could not go to pay my last look and say goodbye )
i am too greedy person and nagging too , i should be happy and content ,in my beatiful big cage , and welcome electricity and be very gratfull to my occupier

Mona,
After seeing a CNN video about this terrible plight (surgeries performed in the dark, children on life-saving machinery using generator power), and I am ashamed of my own country for being a part of this. I searched online for more info and found your site.
I have contacted a church member here in Atlanta, she is Rachel Corrie's sister, and is very active. I will help spread the word and with others hopefully make enough noise to end this desperate situation your people are under.

InshaAllah your pain will pass and the oppressors will meet their fate. Just hold on and keep praying and having patience. In the end, your cause will be won.
By Waqas, at 1/22/2008 7:17 AM
The more Palestinians suffer, the worst the punishment for the oppressors will be. Do not give up and never surrender. It is remarkable what your people have been through, and I cry every time I pray to God for the Palestinians.

I don't get it. why do you say you are under occupation? Israel withdrawd from Gaza more than 2.5 years ago, you are democratic country you voted for Hamas (which in turn burned all the churches in Gaza).
Now you are happy with your choices.
I don't get it why you are not building power plans instead of getting 75% of the electricity from Israel. Are you too busy building bombs and rockets?
I don't know any other country that supplies electricity to its enemies.
Best,
By Eran Arkin, at 1/22/2008 2:02 PM
By the way, simple equation:
full electricity (day before yesterday) - 46 rockets on Israeli towns.
no electricity(yesterday) - 1 rocket on Israeli towns.
part electricity(today) - 7 rockets on Israeli towns.
Anyone think Israel should supply electricity to its destroyers?

You, madam Something, are justifying war crimes.
Insh'allah, Olmert, Barak and those pulling the triggers will stand before an International Court tribunal as did Hess, Bohrmann, Speer and the rest of them

The suffering of the innocents in Gaza is a tragic thing. But if you want it to stop: Tell Hamas and Islamic Jihad to stop launching rockets at Israeli Civilians and give the peace process a chance. Both sides have screwed up multiple times and done the other side wrong, but there can be no peace with Hamas when they call for the destruction Israel. Israel is going no where.

there are always two sides to any situation. hamas is no angel neither is israel. both are equally responsible for the current plight of the people in gaza.

Actually Israel is still providing electricity to its aggressors, it just was one power plant that was shut down because for Hamas a crisis in Gaza is good propaganda.
Enjoy your leaders, you voted for'em.

The settlers have gone by israel has never left Gaza . it closed ALL its exists , and controls its borders, air space and sea front . how can gazans do business and sell their produce or import anything if all exists are shut ? the ONLY Palestinian electricity generator they had was bombed by israel and to put Gazans under israel control they cant buy from egypt , but HAVE to buy electricity from thier oppressor. Fishermen gets shot at when they are fishing (many sad stories on google) how can you call that freedom ?
YEs hamas was chosen and trusted but the DOnations and AiD was immmediately stopped . Even simple donations from Arab citizens have been stopped by America and Arab bank. (dont talk to me about begging because israel continues to get US aid , and Jewish generous donors n and AIPAC et.. without any problem even though israel is a rich nation with a thriving economy )
Hamas can not print money or perform Miracles , if the donations from US , EU , and Arab nations continued , it would be a success story and that would frighten Jordan and egypt (where Muslim brotherhood are a lot more popular than the US stooges in Goverment ) Gaza has never been freed . the tanks surround it and the Apaches fly overhead every single day
rockets ? that s a simple retaliation to israeli Daily crimes . if the israelis Stopped targeting the palestinians in gaza and the westbank , then the Rocket will stop. Hamas offered a cease fire and a long term hudna and asked them to stop targeting them but Israel needs constantly provocations and bloodshed to hide behind them its warmongering nature and its expanding nature too . (sorry if my English is not great but im sure you got the message )
By Leyla Benkirane, at 1/23/2008 12:19 PM
i dunno what's happening in there and is that real that every day some rockets go to Israelis towns or not but i know this is the land of Palestinians and they occupied it and i know all the human rights and showing off humanity of the west for Israel is not right as they show to people.
things behind the scene are different but peoples now a day are to blind to care about.
I hope we humans get more understanding from each other and be in more peace. I hope you guys get your happiness back in this confusing ages.

This is a comment for the postings that use the tit-for-tat argument, i.e., if you dont throw stones at our tanks we wont let our snipers shoot your seven year olds in the head.
Kenneth Roth of Human Rights Watch said it best, "I understand an eye for an eye, but three hundred eyes for one eye?".
Shame on you IDF, shame on you Israel Medical Association and US administration (Pre or post Nov 2008).
There are many others in America with you and your people Dr. Elfarra

Now the ocupation ended. As it was shown by the events of january 23 israel does not control the border with egypt.
Gazans can demonstrate against israeli blockade of airpace or about the blockade of the coast but they cannot claim israel does control their boarders.
Israel does control its borders , not all Gaza borders.
For good reasons gazans are not happy with Israel but peace is the solution, not Qassans.
This is obvious for anyone that look at the conflict with a cool head.
Qassams brought nothing so far , just more israeli raids.

The argument we gazans are much worse off than people of Sderot is no argument. The issue is not a contest to see who is worse off . The issue is , both sides could be better off if they stop shooting.
Palestinians want to things that are dificult to reconcile. Palestinians believe they have the right to resist by whatever means and next they complain Israelis are the agressor.
They behave like a child that starts a fight and next complains that he got punched in the face.
This has happenned since 1947.
In 1947 Israel was attacked by arab armies but next arabs complain Israel had grabbed most of palestine.
In 67 Jordan attacked Israel but next palis complain about the ocupation.
Palis are always ready to punch the Israelis but never ackowledge their responsability in the conflict.
Since 47 palis have been blaming the israelis for all the evils that befall them.
This is understandable since Israel was created in palestinian land but its time for people to move and try to built a better future.
Past cannot be changed but future can.
Palestinians intelectuals instead of repeating the same old song ( Israel is bad , we are victims ) should try to make peace and built a better future.

I found your blog and cried when I read this entry. I pray for the Palestinian people everyday and freedom from their OCCUPIER. I have no right to complain about how cold I am, how tired I am, how I can't get anything done. I have been humbled by your entry.
As for Annapolis, anything King George does is a "dog and pony" show. It's just a show. We all know the truth that the US pushed for early Palestinian elections, thus resulting in an outcome not expected from the US; anything signed on paper by the Israel will not be honored.
It comes down to this: If someone trespassed on my land, would I defend my family and my own property? You better believe it.

Charade.
For months we hear from you and others that Gaza is a big prison , that Gaza is under ocupation.
Since I have never been in Gaza I had no idea if this was true or not.
For months I was told Israel controlled Gaza borders.
And I somewhat believed.
Untill a few days ago when news surfaced that palestinians had clashed with egyptian police near rafah.
Since egyptian riot police is not controlled by Israel..., it was clear that unlike palestinians and others claim israel did not control all Gaza borders.
Today I got further confirmation.
"The current situation is only an exception and for temporary reasons," Zaki an high egyptian oficial said said. "The border will go back to normal."
"Back to normal..."; I thought to myself.
Back to being a big prison as palestinians claim Gaza is , I asked myself
Egypt could have helped the palestinians, Egypt has a border with Gaza..., and egypt to let any help through their border.
Gaza might be a big prison but its a prison with 2 doors , one leading to Israel another leading to Egypt and Egypt does refuse to open the door of Gaza.
To claim Gaza is under ocupation is not true.
This is all the more shocking since the egyptians claim they are the champions of the palestinians but actually they do not let any help to arrive in Gaza through their doors.
Egyptians are more interested in creating trouble for Israel than to solving the crisis in Gaza and helping the Gazans.
Deep inside themselves many arabs are blind with hate against the Zionists, Israel.
Instead of improving living conditions in Gaza they insist in creating the worst situation possible.
Egyptians refuse to help Gazans and keep israeli blockade.
Hamas keep shooting at israel.

Mona,
May God protect you on your path. I pray for hope, for strength for everyone, and cry as do many that the injustice may end.
It's too painfully obvious for anyone willing to research the last century what has happened.
There are powers that want this insanity for their own gains. And there are many who want it to end. Fore instance, one i found just yesterday:

Be brave, be strong! The mass media can't hide the truth forever.

My friends and I stand in Solidarity with you and those suffering under the Israeli Occupation. This is a complete and outright violation of international law and the 4th Article Geneva Convention. I saw the images of Palestinians crossing into Egypt and I hoped that you and your daughter made it across to stock up on supplies. One day the people will realize that the struggle of the Palestinian is the struggle of all of us as the workers of the world. I wish you future days of joy and love.
Your friend and comrade,

Dear Mona,
I am ashamed of my government for turning a blind eye. They are heavily influenced by Israel in all they do. The American people are waking up to the truth. I spread the truth to any and all that will listen. Please be strong and know there are many of us that care deeply for you and all oppressed people. We will all be free of the tyranny some day. We will all come together in peace.

Away from the media distortion that we see on TV and newspapers.
Would you please tell us about the latest clashes between the Egyptian armed forces and the Palestinians of Gaza, who blew the boarders?
By Ahmed Ateyya, at 1/28/2008 2:41 PM
Morteza.
"i dunno what's happening in there and is that real that every day some rockets go to Israelis towns or not but i know this is the land of Palestinians"
1. rockets are falling on Israeli civilians.
2. Sderot is Israeli land according to all UN resolutions 181,242.
so recheck your sources.
